The U.S. Green Building Council is overhauling the LEED certification system as part of an effort to become more consistent, eliminate confusing documentation and ease the rating process. Officials hope the overhaul helps the rating system maintain acceptance in the market. It will include revisions to rating systems, changes to the certification process and updates to online tools that support certification. "We were cognizant that LEED works now, but that it could work better," says Brendan Owens, vice president of LEED technical development for the council.
