Defense Secretary Robert Gates visited U.S. forces in Afghanistan last week to highlight the need for an increased focus on unconventional wars that require fewer tanks and bombers. "My job is to get you what you need to get the mission done successfully," Gates told the Marines gathered at Camp Leatherneck, but critics back home are questioning the new priorities. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., in a speech on the Senate floor, warned that the Gates plan "is taking us down a path that leads to a weaker military that is poorly equipped."
