Accord to National Security Agency head Lt. Gen. Keith Alexander, the federal government is working on a plan to create a cybercommand agency that would, much like today's military, be tasked with protecting the nation's computer networks from malicious attacks. Although the command's primary mission would be to protect military computer systems, Alexander said it would also support the Department of Homeland Security's efforts to oversee civilian networks and guard other infrastructure from cyberattacks.
