Arizona science teacher Donna Baker uses hands-on projects and group work to engage and excite students, saying some learn better through such methods than through reading from a textbook. "All of my classes are as hands-on as possible," she says. "There are so many different learning styles. The kids who do really well with worksheets and textbooks and things like that don't get to shine. This gives them the opportunity to shine."
