A partnership with two nearby colleges may help dozens of teachers in the Charlotte, N.C., area improve their lesson plans and get revitalized to teach this fall. More than 50 educators chosen for the Charlotte Teachers Institute will receive $1,500 stipends and have the opportunity to attend 13 two-hour seminars. A University of Pennsylvania study found a similar program at Yale University boosted student motivation as well as teacher retention.
