The head of the Regional Airline Association believes the recession, with its sharp drop in demand for air travel, "really has given us great breathing room to begin speeding up the implementation of an improved ATC system." Roger Cohen says the Obama administration is serious about implementing NextGen, despite a lack of stimulus funding earmarked for the massive project. In addition, Cohen praises the administration for supporting air service to small communities and backing off plans for slot auctions in the busy New York market.
