The Senate Finance Committee held a meeting to discuss legislation and recommended revisions to the delivery of health care. The lawmakers also explored the possibility of creating a U.S. Diagnostic Imaging Exchange Network aimed at helping physicians in assessing the safety and necessity of calling for a new scan. Such a system would cut Medicare costs by reducing duplicate scans as well as boost patient safety by decreasing exposure to radiation, an industry group said.
