Despite the economic downturn, about 75% of Americans are planning to take a vacation this year, according to a survey commissioned by the U.S. Tour Operators Association. The poll also found that 60% of Americans believe they can get a better deal through vacation packages and tours. "Buying a tour or vacation package can save an average 20% to 30% in general. In 2009, because of the stronger dollar, international travelers in particular can save an average 20% over last year's prices in many destinations," said Bob Whitley, president of USTOA.
