Washington, D.C., office rents are falling, vacancy is rising and new construction is scheduled to put 11 million square feet of additional office space on the market in the coming years. The vacancy rate for the District of Columbia and nearby suburbs has now reached 12.5%, up from 11.1% in the same quarter a year ago. Rents have fallen to $33.47 a square foot, from $34.55 a year ago.
