Recommendations on the "meaningful use" of electronic medical records are set to be presented June 16 by a workgroup of the HIT Policy Committee, announced John Glaser, senior special adviser at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. If the panel approves the suggested definition, it will be submitted to ONCHIT for evaluation, Glaser said. Meanwhile, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology has picked more than 200 volunteers to help review whether its programs comply with the stimulus law, which offers Medicare and Medicaid incentives for meaningful use of EMRs.
