The $1.92 million in damages that Jammie Thomas-Rasset was ordered to pay the Recording Industry Association of America for sharing 24 songs on KaZaA may not end up representing much of a victory for the industry, which is still seeking to settle the case. The massive size of the award -- $80,000 per song -- appears to be spurring vociferous calls for changing copyright law.
