Students do not need to have attended public-school special education to receive district reimbursement for private-school tuition, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday. Some worry the ruling has the potential to reduce cooperation between public schools and families. "We feel it undermines the collaborative intent and spirit and structure of IDEA," said Lindsay E. Jones, CEC's senior director for policy and advocacy. "It allows parents to bypass the special-education process altogether."
