A proposed draft of revised IAS 39 standards relating to impaired assets and the fair value of financial instruments should be available to the public for review some time in July, said Sir David Tweedie, chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board. He said the European Union and other stakeholders will be given the opportunity to be heard on the issue of fair-value accounting standards before the final revisions are completed around the end of the year.
