Lawmakers from Nebraska, South Dakota and other farm states said they will support the pending legislation on climate change only if it includes an expanded definition of biomass for purposes of energy production. Asking support from the Obama administration, the lawmakers said a broader definition of biomass will ensure that ethanol makers have adequate supply of raw materials to produce 16 billion gallons of cellulosic ethanol annually by 2022.
