North Carolina's House Finance Committee on Wednesday signed off on a bill that would raise nearly $1 billion through tax increases, a measure that NFIB says will hurt small-business owners who file as individuals. "Just because a small business is pulling in six figures doesn't mean the owners are making anywhere near as much money," said Gregg Thompson, NFIB/North Carolina. "In fact, small-business owners tend to pay themselves last, after paying the bills and their employees."
