Over the next several weeks, both houses of Congress are scheduled to hold hearings on aviation safety, particularly of regional airlines. The House will be reviewing commercial pilot training and certification programs, and a Senate subcommittee will investigate the FAA's role in the oversight of air carriers. These hearings were prompted by issues brought to light during recent National Transportation Safety Board hearings on a regional flight that crashed near Buffalo, N.Y., earlier this year.
