The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday approved a luxury condominium tower planned for the Greenwich Village Historic District. The 16-story tower is part of a $1.63 billion reconstruction proposal by St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan to modernize its facilities. Preservation and community groups have opposed the project, which still needs approval from the New York City Planning Commission.
