The federal government has distributed the roughly $1 billion designated for the nation's airports in the economic stimulus package, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. Most of the funds will be used to repair and improve runways. LaHood said the funds will allow airports to make improvements that are long overdue, adding "there are a lot more needs in aviation." LaHood also mentioned that replacing the U.S. radar- and ground-based air traffic management system will be the FAA's highest priority.
