BASF and Sinopec plan to boost the capacity of a steam cracker at their petrochemical complex in Nanjing, China, from 600,000 metric tons per year to 740,000 metric tons per year by 2011. The expansion will also include 10 new downstream derivative units and will boost the cost of the project by $1.4 billion.
