Ericsson says it believes the CDMA assets it has agreed to buy from Nortel Networks will be profitable for several years because carriers will continue to put money behind them and then spend to maintain the technology as they convert to LTE-based networks. CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg said Monday that carriers would stand behind CDMA because LTE will not be ready for prime time "until VoIP is working properly."
