The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has rejected recommendations from a working group and has endorsed giving infants varicella vaccine alone or in combination with the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine. Most members of the working group had supported separate doses because the combo doubled the risk for febrile seizures. The committee noted that the risk still was small and that the average pediatric practice would see only one additional febrile seizure every 15 years.
