Data from the second Nurses' Health Study found that women who had all six low-risk factors -- including a good diet, normal weight maintenance and modest alcohol intake -- reduced their chances of getting high blood pressure by 80%. Data from the Physicians' Health Study I found that men who adhered to four or more low-risk lifestyle factors had a 10.1% chance of developing heart failure, compared with a 21.2% chance among men who adhered to none.
