News Corp is on the losing end of an antitrust suit filed by couponing company Valassis Communications, which alleged that News Corp's News America Marketing subsidiary raised prices on in-store media buys for those marketers that did not advertise in its SmartSource newspaper inserts. Executives from CPG firms including Sara Lee Foods, PepsiCo and H.J. Heinz testified in the trial. A Michigan jury awarded Valassis $300 million. News Corp announced it will appeal the verdict.
