Insurers in Louisiana are opposing a bill that would extend the valid period for workers' compensation claims from two to three years. PCI wrote Gov. Bobby Jindal to ask his veto of the legislation, which was approved recently by the state Legislature. The proposed move would spur higher workers' compensation rates and other "unintended consequences to the businesses and consumers of Louisiana that far exceed any possible benefit that may be derived," PCI Assistant Vice President Greg LaCost said.
