Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and the Seminole Tribe have reached an impasse in gambling talks a month before the Aug. 31 deadline imposed by state lawmakers. However, the compact would not rule out expanded gambling elsewhere in the state. The tribe would like exclusive rights to operate slot machines outside of South Florida.
