Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and the Seminole Tribe have reached an impasse in gambling talks a month before the Aug. 31 deadline imposed by state lawmakers. The current draft of the gambling compact would allow the tribe to operate slot machines and table games, and would give it exclusive rights to operate slot machines in some areas. However, the compact would not rule out expanded gambling elsewhere in the state. The tribe would like exclusive rights to operate slot machines outside of South Florida.
