In an experiment, children were given bowls of Goldfish crackers as they watched a 14-minute cartoon with commercials. Children who saw ads for games and entertainment during the show ate 45% fewer Goldfish than their peers who saw commercials for snack foods.
The Columbus, Ohio, division of Kroger has teamed with the Center for Innovative Food Technology and Ohio State University to create a Food Safety Hotline. Consumers can speak to someone about food safety issues during regular business hours or can leave a message and phone number after hours to get a response.
Sara Lee is selling three bakeries to Spanish company Grupo Siro, though it will continue to own and market its Spanish bakery products, including the Bimbo line. The move will "further improve production economics," explained the CEO of Sara Lee's international beverage and bakery business.
