The number of global hotel construction projects dropped by 16% to 9,108 at the end of the first quarter of 2009, according to a new report from Lodging Econometrics. The U.S. pipeline also saw a decline of 16%. Construction starts and new project announcements have also continued to trend downward, while cancellations or postponements increased to 975 projects.
