Scientists have developed a new way to process rice husks that will allow them to be used as a partial substitute for Portland cement in concrete. Observers say using the rice-husk ash mixture would help limit carbon emissions. They also note that replacing up to 20% of the cement in a concrete mix with rice-husk ash strengthens the concrete and makes it more resistant to corrosion.
