Researchers from six Scottish universities are collaborating as part of the SINAPSE program to advance brain imaging research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, such as Alzheimer's, stroke and cancer. One study has found that depression is more likely to be experienced by older women who live alone and have vascular conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure. Another study is exploring the best methods to scan stroke patients to be able to determine brain tissue response to anti-clot drugs.
