Carnet Williams, chief executive of social media marketing firm Sprout, looks into his own case files to offer five guidelines about social-media marketing. Williams advocates making social-media campaigns about consumers themselves -- create some element that users can personalize. He also points out that while it's important to measure campaigns, "[c]ompanies shouldn't delay adding social-media components of their campaigns while waiting for the perfect ROI scenario."
