Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said the company's drive to improve performance, which included enhancing customer service and shuttering hundreds of outlets, is starting to pay off. However, Schultz was cautiously optimistic about the outlook. "There is no victory lap going on at Starbucks ... we [realize] how tough the environment is in terms of the economy ... and we have to be very careful to [recognize] that the headwind is still in front of us."
