A proposal to assess fees on insurance companies to pay for a massive overhaul of the U.S. health care system is getting support from Democratic members of the Senate Finance Committee. "We need the insurance companies to step up to the plate to be a part of the solution," said Sen. Charles Schumer, a member of the committee. Major insurance companies are coming under heavy pressure to help pay for the nation's health care, after hospitals and pharmaceutical companies offered billions of dollars in cost savings.
