Levee designs for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta now incorporate a 4.5-foot rise in sea levels after the Army Corps of Engineers instituted a new policy requiring such designs to take higher sea levels into account. "Regardless of what you think the reason is, sea level is rising worldwide and it will continue to rise in the future," said Kevin Knuuti, chief of the engineering division at the Army Corps' Sacramento District.
