Child triathlons are becoming very popular in the U.S., drawing families with children as young as 3 for events such as swimming, biking and running. One physician cautions parents to be careful about allowing children under age 7 to compete because there is little data on how it might affect growth plates in young shoulders, arms, knees, ankles and feet.
