A state judge has refused to dismiss a California design company as a defendant in a lawsuit that centers on the 2007 Interstate bridge collapse in the Twin Cities. Lawyers for Jacobs Engineering Group, which helped design the bridge in the 1960s, argued that too much time had passed for the company to be liable for its work on the bridge. In her decision, Judge Deborah Hedlund wrote that lawmakers revised the relevant state law in 2007 and took out the 10-year repose period.
