As discounters JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines begin more head-to-head competition from Washington, D.C., to Boston, the entire New England market could feel the effects, experts say. The carriers used to compete mainly in leisure markets, and their shift to major business centers could have wide-ranging effects. "It makes me think of gunfighters in the Old West -- who is going to be the last man standing?" asks Harlan Platt, a professor at Northeastern University who studies the airline industry.
