As many as 228 guests may get the deal of a lifetime -- a 1-cent rate at the Crowne Plaza in Quarto D'Altino, a four-star hotel near Venice, Italy, thanks to an error at the offices of InterContinental Hotels Group in Atlanta. The mistaken rate of 1 euro cent for a romantic weekend, which was supposed to be a two-night stay for half price, appeared on the hotel's Web site Sunday night, long enough for travelers to book rooms from October through 2010, and the mistake will cause the hotel to lose about $129,000, an official said.
