A malaria vaccine developed by an international team of researchers is set for human trials early next year. In creating the vaccine, the researchers deleted two important genes in the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, which carries the most dangerous form of the disease to humans, so that the vaccine could prevent further spread of the infection in the bloodstream. Tests on mice showed the vaccine offered 100% protection against the disease, a researcher said.
