Florida educators are upset about recent changes to graduation rules that could decrease the likelihood of some students getting a diploma, writes St. Petersburg Times journalist Ron Matus on The Gradebook blog. The statewide policy change drops an option for students in alternative programs who pass an equivalency test to earn a standard diploma. That means some students may have to stay in school longer to earn credits, an option educators worry that many students won't stick to.
