Schools in California's San Luis Obispo County are integrating environmental concepts into their curriculum. In the county's elementary and middle schools, field trips and hands-on activities with an environmental emphasis are offered, and at a high school, 60 freshmen will enter a pilot four-year Green Academy program this month. "The thought is to get what the kids are interested in and that's how you hook them," said a high-school assistant principal.
