Three terminals at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, were closed on Tuesday following a mercury leak in a passenger's suitcase. A 52-year-old local man on his way to visit relatives in the Dominican Republic now faces federal charges of transportation of hazardous materials, according to the FBI. "If this person were to get jail time for this type of crime, it would bring this post-9/11 hysteria to the point of absurdity," said defense attorney Giovanni Canino. The suspect said he was carrying 20 pounds of mercury for a dentist in the Dominican Republic, and that only a small amount leaked in his suitcase.
