Pam O'Neal, vice president of marketing for BreakingPoint Systems, a company that provides tools to test computer networks, says social media has become a popular way for small businesses to cut their hiring costs. Although she used Twitter herself to find a marketing director, other experts say social media does not replace the value of one-on-one interviewing and, because networks are made up of like-minded people, recruiting only through networks could reduce diversity in the workplace.
