A Canadian House of Commons panel launched its inquiry into the Nortel Networks-Ericsson deal Friday with a plea from Research in Motion co-CEO Mike Lazaridis to keep key LTE patents from leaving the country. Lazaridis laid out the history of the BlackBerry maker's talks with Nortel and lashed out at the bankrupt company. A top Nortel executive testified that the Canadian government refused to help the company prior to its bankruptcy filing.
