A second consecutive week of increase to initial jobless claims in the U.S. came as a surprise to analysts, who had expected a decline. Initial claims for benefits rose to 576,000 last week, a 15,000 increase from the previous week, the Labor Department said. Most analysts' forecasts called for first-time claims to drop to 550,000.
