Jonathan James, an independent retailer who runs Spar and Budgens stores in the UK, said merchants should be able to indicate to consumers how energy efficient their outlets are. He said retailers could have some sort of "kite mark", similar to the "scores on the door" policy for food outlets. "It would say, 'Here's my energy company saying I am energy efficient,'" James said.
