Bank of America has called allegations by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo "spurious" and insisted that the bank had not misled the prosecutor in his investigation of the handling of the bank's acquisition of Merrill Lynch; the bank's attorneys made the statements in a letter to Cuomo. Cuomo is investigating the bank's alleged hiding of information from investors during the acquisition process. The Securities and Exchange Commission is also investigating the bank's alleged failure to supply all the necessary information about losses at Merrill; BofA has also denied those assertions.
