Prairie dogs at Vance Brand Municipal Airport in Longmont, Colo., have caused $85,000 in damage to the runway. The prairie dogs should be eradicated to ensure airport safety, according to the Longmont Times-Call. The city spent $12,700 on a barrier fence for the prairie dogs, but the move attracted large birds of prey to feed on the enclosed prairie dog colony.
