More than 140,000 government contractors have enrolled in the E-Verify program, and some say it is easy to use it to confirm the legal status of their workers. Employers enrolled in the program have run 7 million queries so far, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Contractors and subcontractors on large federal projects will be required to use the program beginning next Tuesday.
