The Department of Energy launched a program this week to encourage retrofitting buildings to energy-efficient standards. The $450 million program could stimulate savings of $100 million in energy costs per year, according to the DOE. "We have the tools to reduce energy use at home and at work and to provide huge savings to families and businesses on their energy bills," said Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
