Some kindergarten students in a Minnesota school district will take reading and math tests to pinpoint early reasons for an achievement gap between white and minority students. Educators hope that by following student progress as early as kindergarten, they will be better able to plan interventions and other support, as well as plan for long-term success for minority students. "We've got to get the black students to catch up, absolutely, that is our goal," said an administrator.
